Basic Cardio Workout Mistakes
A solid cardio routine is vital to your overall fitness. Getting that heartrate up makes a huge difference in the impact of your routine. But it’s easy to make mistakes so that you are not getting the maximum benefit.
One of the simplest is to not challenge yourself. You keep the machines on the lowest level, no resistance, incline or whatever else the machine has to offer to make your workout more difficult.
Sure, you’re moving your body a lot. But you aren’t making it work as hard as it ought to be for maximum benefit. Making your body works harder means you’re burning more calories. Wouldn’t you rather be more efficient and see real results than fool yourself?
For many machines, holding onto it is not the best idea either. Once again, you’re burning fewer calories and decreasing the overall challenge. If you need to slow down for a little, slow down rather than hold onto the machine. A little variation of your routine is not so bad a thing.
In fact, that variation can be a huge help for reaching your goals. If you always work out in exactly the same way your body can adapt and the workout is just not as challenging as it once way. You plateau and get frustrated.
And then there’s perhaps the most common mistakes of all… skipping the warmup. Doing this just plain limits you and the benefit you wanted to gain.
Take a few minutes and do your warmup routine as well as a cool down routine. These will help your body make the most of the exercise you are doing. It also helps you avoid exercises, as muscles which have not warmed up are more prone to damage.
