Burned Out on Your Exercise Routine?
Eventually the day may come. You just don’t feel like doing your exercise routine. It’s boring or requires too much effort. What to do, what to do?
If you’re feeling burned out on your exercise routine, it’s time to rework it. Make sure you choose a routine you can stick with a long time. It will help you to keep going on your routine. Boredom is a sure exercise routine killer. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but the day will come that you just don’t want to do it anymore because you’re bored.
Also keep in mind the benefits you are getting from your fitness routine. It’s good for your mind and your body. It’s probably also good for your self esteem. You’ll look better and feel better, at least after showering up and getting the sweat off.
Try combining activities. If you have gym equipment at home, you can try putting it in a room with a television so that you have something to occupy your mind as you exercise. If you’re feeling entertained you will probably not notice the time going by.
If you take walks, make it into a family activity. You’re getting time with your family as you exercise. Take the walks in special places anytime, but especially if you’re getting bored just walking around your own neighborhood.
Make sure you reward your efforts. This doesn’t mean promise yourself a huge slab of chocolate cake after a workout - you don’t want to sabotage yourself. But you can set endurance, weight loss or similar goals and pick a reward for reaching those goals.
Keeping yourself from being burned out by your exercise routine is key to keeping it up. If you catch the symptoms of burnout, start thinking of ways to make things interesting and fun again.
