Equipment-Free Exercises
One of the biggest problems with trying to work out at home for most people is the feeling that you need to buy equipment to really do a good job. But that really isn’t so. There are plenty of exercises that you can do that don’t need additional equipment. They may need a bench, but that’s about it.
For example, stand on one leg, facing away from a bench or firm chair. Hold your arms out in front of yourself and lift one leg. Lower your body slowly as far as you can without straining yourself. You can then sit and use both legs to stand. Repeat, doing several reps with each leg.
As a mother, I like to joke that my children are my gym equipment. They make me run, play, and even love to encourage me to exercise. Some of my routine does even involve lifting them. It’s fun, and no doubt the most expensive yet priceless gym equipment one can have.
If your home has stairs, well, those are great for exercise too! Who needs the stairclimber at the gym when you have the real thing?
And of course there are exercises such as crunches that don’t need any equipment either; just a clear place on the floor.
The big point I want to make is that you cannot let a lack of equipment keep you from working out at home. You can find ways to do some tough exercises that will build your strength and endurance.
