Feeling Your Age?
How about looking it? Some things do make you look and feel older.
For me, a part of why I enjoy exercise is that I know a fit body looks younger. Exercise has many benefits, from the overall improvement in fitness level to stress reduction. And it can also just be fun.
If stress is getting to you, take the time for some exercise and maybe even some meditation. Yes, some of your stress may be from having too much to do, and adding in exercise and/or meditation may seem like one more thing on top of all that, but if you give it a try you aren’t likely to regret it.
Just remember, 30 minutes of fitness activities a day is all you really need, and you don’t have to do it in one shot.
Another way to avoid excess aging is to watch what you eat. Unhealthy foods aren’t going to do your overall appearance any good, as they can increase your body’s bad cholesterol production.
Instead, try some healthy foods. If it’s sweets you want, try berries. They’re great for having antioxidants, as well as just tasting wonderful.
If you want to avoid the appearance of aging, I hope I don’t have to tell you to quit smoking.
Getting the right amount of sun is important too. While you do need some time in the sun so that your body can produce vitamin D, too much causes skin aging. If you’re going out for a tan, you are probably out in the sun too much. Wear some sunscreen.
And yes, tanning beds are just as bad for your skin’s youthful appearance. Balance your need for a “healthy” tan with consideration for the health of your skin.
Make the lifestyle changes you can. You’ll feel better for it as well as look better.
