Walking for Exercise in Poor Weather
Walking is great exercise. You can do it on a treadmill at home or at the gym or you can do it outdoors. However, if you walk outdoors you have to have plans for those days that the weather just does not permit you to walk outside.
The aforementioned treadmill is a simple alternative to walking outside, of course, but it may not be the one for you. Maybe you don’t have a gym membership or maybe you don’t want to invest in a treadmill for your home.
Without a treadmill you need to come up with other ideas.
An easy one may be to go to a local indoor mall and walk there. Lots of people do that for exercise. There’s plenty of room and a couple laps about the mall can easily match your usual routine.
If your objection to the treadmill is the cost, consider something lower price, such as a Gazelle. These can be quite affordable and are very easy to use.
Housework can be another great alternative. If your house is more or less clean, think about hitting some of the details you might not do otherwise. Clean out the cabinets, pull out the couch to vacuum under and behind it and so forth. Some of the more active forms of housecleaning are also pretty decent exercise.
Whatever you do, don’t use poor weather as an excuse to not exercise at all. Poor weather can last for a long time in some areas, and you don’t want to lose that exercise habit.
